Uffizi reservations - what am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,

Today, I called 011-39-055-294-883 at 10am my time (Mountain) to make reservations for Uffizi and Accademia. Each time I called, I only got a recorded message with options for general info, but no option to actually speak with someone. The message says bookings can be done until 6:30 pm, and I could swear I was calling before closing. So reservations haven't been done. I still have time to take care of the reservations for our trip in two weeks, but I'm so confused.

Has anyone run into this? What am I doing wrong? Any recos?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Fay

Did you call today? April 25 is a national holiday in Italy.

And according to a thread here (which has not yet been made available for Search), they changed the telephone system yesterday, which would explain some of the other problems encountered recently.

Are you staying at a hotel in Florence? Will they do the reservation for you? Ours did - very easy!

When the recorded message said "The first available day to reserve tickets is April 26" I thought that meant that was the next day that I could reserve tickets FOR, not the next available day to speak with someone to make a reservation. That's why I was confused, but I get it now.

So I called today, and now the message is changed to "The next available day to reserve tickets is April 28."

Wonder how Big Turtle got through.

I called at 6AM EST. I think you are correct that the date I heard was the first available for tickets, it was just a coincidence that the 25th was also a holiday.

When I got through Option 4 was for a booking. Options 1-3 were to get more info.
