Do plan on spending 3 hours (could be longer) at the Uffizi. There is SO much to see. The Accademia has David, but not much else. We saw both easily in one day, but missed out on seeing the Boboli Gardens, which I've always regretted. Make reservations before you get there so you don't have to stand in line for ages.

Do both as you can just see "David" at Accademia and spend more time at Uffizi. I can't imagine not seeing the original "David" while in Florence.

See both. Spend as much time as necessary in the Uffizi and go to the Accademia late in the afternoon to see the David. Don't miss it! You can enjoy it in less than a half hour. Be sure to make reservations for both to avoid endless lines.

A lover of art should not miss David! I would try to do both.

uhoh_busted, I have seen both museums and the Boboli Gardens. If I were to choose, I would pick the seeing both of the museums over the gardens any day.

Yes, do both. Bargello would be on my list as well. Know you didn't ask about it, but it's pretty special.

Agree, do both. Accademia is "just" David and Michelangelo's Dying Slaves leading up to David. Quick stop and definitely do-able if you book both ahead.

But to the Bargello recommendation (loved it!) I would also add the Duomo Museum. Donatello's Mary Magdalen as well as Michelangelo's "other", later Pieta make it a worthwhile stop.

Ditto to the do both replies. Accadamia is more than "just" David but the tour and "David exerince" shold not take more than an hour with pre-reserved tickets. The Uffizi, will take longer 2 to 3 hours.

Both. Your hotel will make reservations for you and you will not waste any time in lines. We did one in the am and the other in the pm. Accadamia won't take long unless you just can't walk away from David as I couldn't.
