I know Leadville, Colorado has the highest US airport--but it's closer to 10,000 feet. It must not be classified as a commercial airport.

Telluride, Colorado isn't quite as high--is it commercial?

Denver Int'l. would only be around 5000 feet, wouldn't it.

Where did the figures come from? I cheated and googled the busiest airport, and came up with these passenger figures (worldwide) from 2004:

1. SECRET AIRPORT* - 83,606,583

2. O'Hare International Airport (Chicago) - 75,533,822

3. Heathrow Airport (London) - 67,344,054

4. Haneda Airport (Tokyo) - 62,291,405

5. Los Angeles International Airport - 60,688,609

6. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport - 59,412,217

7. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport - 51,260,363

8. Frankfurt Airport - 51,098,271

G yes should be 9,062 ft so not SF - but i'll give the prize here to Rufus - it's Telluride, according to this USA Today article. Me i'm just the messenger so don't know about Leadville - must be considered commercial airport perhaps.

I think Kate must have the busiest airport - Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta but her figures are much higher - again i don't know just reporting.

One of my best college chums lived in Silverton, Colorado--just down the road from Telluride. So I thought Telluride might be the place. Those mountains are beautiful from the air--not that they aren't beautiful from the ground as well.
