tvg

Hi,
My husband and I will be taking the tvg to Tours then renting a car as suggested on this board. My question is this do we buy a round trip tvg ticket?, can we say buy our ticket for Tours, then rent a car, and then return the car at Chartres and catch the tvg from that location? Where in Paris do we get that train? We will be staying at the Mariott.
thanks again to all of you that have helped before and now.

It's TGV not TVG. You want want to re-post in order to get some responses.

The TGV for Tours leaves from the Gare Montparnasse.
I don't think you save any $$ by buying a RT ticket.
And is there even a TGV from Chartres to Paris? I don't know the answer, but I would think not.

You can take a TGV one-way from Paris-Montparnasse to Tours. Rent a car. Return the car at Chartres. Take an RER train back into Paris.

There isn't any TGV service in Chartres.

I think there's more than one Marriott in Paris. No matter, if you have luggage take a taxi between the hotel and train station. If you have no or very little luggage, take the Metro.

There is no TGV from Chartres to Paris, but rather a regular train. And if you're going to Tours and returning from Chartres, you clearly can't purchase a round trip ticket.

I don't understand what you mean by "where in Paris do we get that train" if you're taking a train INTO Paris from Chartres. Trains from Chartres arrive at the Gare Montparnasse, same place you'd get the TGV to Tours if you're not going directly from CDG.

Any car rental company will let you pick up a car in Tours and drop it off at Chartres.

Oops! I'm an idiot. For some reason I was thinking Versailles and the RER connection. StCirq is correct. You'd take an SNCF train from Chartres to Paris.

Perhaps I shouldn't have enjoyed St. Patty's Day so much yesterday.

St.Cirq,
Since we are stayng at the Domaine Des Haut, do you think we should take the train to somewhere else than Tours? I do understand where to get the train (sorry Iam so confusing).
Since we are there such a short time(meaning in Loire) should we go to Chartes first? then rent a car?
thanks again for all your help. jobie
