Turkish Cruise
Has anyone ever chartered a cruise from Istanbul? I have heard that this is great and would like to try it for five days, cruising along the coast. We would be going as a group. About 8-10 people (couples). All are well traveled and accustomed to luxury lodging so it has to be nice. Any recommendations? I have traveled through Turkey already and loved it. Now I wish to see the seaports. Any suggestions regarding worthwhile stops. The key highlights should be historical sites, beautiful scenery, FOOD, and shopping. Thanks!

Check with Pacha Tours. I took a tour of Western Turkey with them a few years ago and was highly impressed. I wanted to add on a cruise of the Turquoise Coast but my traveling companion couldn't take the extra time. I know they arrange individual tours.

Because they also operate tours from EUROPE so they combine all conuntries together. Hi Teri, Last summer my husband and I went to Turkey for 2 weeks. We booked a gulet through Pacha Tours for 4 days from Antalya to Kas. We are in our late 40's and early 50's and accustomed to nice accomadations, but this was not luxe by any means. Having said that I'll tell you it was the most fun we've ever had on vacation. It was like being at summer camp on the Med! Sinan was right about the people mix. The captain, cook and I don't know what his official title was, I called him our manservant only spoke Turkish and French. There were 5 germans and 4 americans as passengers and when we left on the 4th day we were replaced by a french couple. All of us got along great thru pigeon talk, hand signals and lots of laughter. The cabins were too stuffy to sleep in so we all slept on deck on sun mats under the stars. Really really amazing. I know there are airconditioned gulets, I didn't think about it before, because I assumed there would be air. I didn't miss it at all. I know there are blue voyages that are much more elegant then what we did, but ours was an adventure that reminded me of how much fun it was to be a kid and not have all the comforts of home. P.S. The food was terrific and the places we stopped beautiful and educational and fun! Good luck with whatever arrangements you make, the gulet is the experience of a lifetime.
