Turkey - guide and/or tour recommendations

hi:
traveling alone to turkey in early august and looking for a recommendation for both a guide and a tour. i'm interested in finding someone for 2 of the 4 days i'll be there.

also, if you have recommendations as to what to utilize a guide for vs. what to do on my own that will be appreciated. (i'll be perusing other posts as well for same information.)

thanks!

My 17-year old daughter and I, along with my friend and her daughter, will be spending 12 days in Turkey this summer. I'm a good travel planner, but I didn't know anything about Turkey and felt overwhelmed by the options.

Several friends recommended this Turkey-based travel company that they used: http://www.cappadociatours.com/. Although we haven't been on our tour yet, I have been so pleased with the service and support to help create our customized trip. We'll spend 5 full days in Istanbul and then travel (by plane) to Cappadocia, then Ephesus, then back to Istanbul. We decided to do private tours on 7 of our 12 days, though for a bit less we could have joined with a small group. Our hotels and airport transfers have all been arranged. The cost was extremely reasonable.

You might find this thread on another message board helpful... it includes the recommendations for Cappadocia Tours.

Kathy, my husband and I are taking a tour with Cappadocia Tours next month. I am glad you've heard good things as the tour sounded good to me, too. We are usually independent travelers but Turkey seemed somewhat daunting. Too bad we're not going to be in Turkey at the same time!

It has been awhile since we've been to Turkey but we used Argus Travel Our guide was Edip Ozcan [email protected]
WE used him for our Cappadocia portion and some nights in Assos-Bursa and Kusidasi. Enjoy Turkey
