Turkey-Greece or Greece-Turkey?
Hi All!!!
I'm from Malaysia and planning for a 10d or 14d trip to Turkey and maybe Greece with my husband in april 2010.
Q:
1. which greek island should we go to in greece? i've heard of santorini/milos. but really i have no idea. or should we go to athens?
2. which flow is better? turkey-greece or greece-turkey?
3. in turkey we have in mind istanbul, ephesus, cappadocia. are we missing out on anything? whats the best timeframe for each city?
4. we'd like to go budget, how do we find pension houses especially in istanbul?
more questions later as i'd like to clear the basics first. please help!!!! thanks!!!!

Your trip is relatively short, and you intend to concentrate on Turkey. Since you plan to visit Ephesus, it would be easy to take a ferry from Kusadasi to Samos, and possibly to one other nearby Greek island. Santorini and Milos are not practical to visit in such a short timeframe, as they would require time consuming ferry connections.

Georgea, I'm also looking at Turkey for a trip this fall. I would love to see Greece, too, but I'm looking for a budget tour and don't think I can do both.
Heimdall, since you seem quite knowledgeable, would you tell me what you think about SmarTour's Treasures of Turkey?
I went with them to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand 2 years ago and was very pleased with the price and everything else.
However, I've since been reading complaints about the company's stated policy of no refunds or reschedules, if a flight is late or for some other reason, a trip is missed. Scary thought, if they cancell flights in Chicago, I could forfeit the whole cost of my trip.
ST has some interesting looking trips to South America and to Australia & New Zealand, both places I'd like to visit, if the price is affordable for me.
Thanks for any suggestions. I always travel with a tour, rather than independently.

Heimdall, thanks for the input. I'll definitely consider Kusadasi in the itinerary. I SO wish that i can take more time off work and experience Turkey on the whole. 2 weeks is tops, anyway. Probably Greece will be the next destination.
Scarlett, I dont think we will be in any tour group though, as we'd like to set our own pace as well as getting to know the locals.

Scarlettudor-
I strongly recommend to you that you deal with a local and highly-regarded tour company in Turkey so they will be close by in case of any problems.
There are many, but here's one I know: http://www.travelatelier.com
