Trying Again - Villa Terrazza in Sorrento
My previous detailed post on our apartment in Villa Terrazza in Sorrento was axed for some reason, so I'm trying again. But this time I'll be brief. My family of 6 stayed in Il Golfo, one of four apartments at the Villa Terrazza on the cliffs of Sorrento, overlooking Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. In a very brief nutshell, the apartment was a beautiful blend of original antiques and murals and very comfortable simple furnishings. The view is spectacular. The location is the very best in Sorrento itself, right by the historical center and two blocks off Tasso Square, and close to the train, as well as a wonderful town to be in for exploring Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi etc. The ambience is true Italian with a wonderful host. If anyone wants details, reply to this thread and I'll expand.

Yes, the host is Andrea (great grandson of the Baronessa von Gunderrode who built the villa in the late 1800s.) The website is www.villaterrazza.it There are three other apartments that sleep 2 - 4 people. Our apartment, including breakfast for 6 every morning was $1900 per week. Our boys have stayed in really fun places in our travels, and they rank this place right up there.

Wow - sounds beautiful! We are looking into staying there in July. Do you think the Il Golfo is baby friendly? We have a 1 year old but will be bringing a babysitter for him.. Also I noticed there is not a picture of the pool on their website. What is the pool like? <BR>Thanks!

Marianna: Have never stayed at Villa Terrazza, but have stayed at Bellevue Syrene every time we have visited Sorrento. Based on Joanne's description, the apartments can't be on the grounds of BS, because it is not "two blocks from Piazza Tasso." It is an easy walk, but further than two blocks. I don't know of any apartments on the grounds. There is an annex at the BS, but don't know of any other buildings on the grounds.
