Trump said he thought the EU was great a few days ago. Well maybe not great, but it had a lot of "love", "beautiful things", etc.
Gut feeling is he has no idea what the EU or British Commonwealth actually do or stand for so good luck with that UK.

Not even that. It may get some government funding and certainly tries to tie in the great and the good to its various cross-Commonwealth projects and activities, but it isn't an official government body: that's the British Council's job (for the UK government).
Though I don't doubt the Foreign Office thinks it would be a good idea for bodies like the RCS to try to tap into US contacts and networks, in the light of current government policy (such as it is) and the presumed loss of EU funding to the UK for all sorts of cultural and social projects.

Which he'd have to share with a whole load of other people (some of them in headscarves!), and possibly Cllr. Buggins, whose turn it is to serve as mayor at the time, or just the local registrar. It isn't that grand.

In the former case it would mean the equivalent of the population of California and New York joining the USA - roughly 85 Congresscreatures and, depending on how "England" is split, several Senators, in the latter it's the population of California and Texas - 95 Congresscreatures and at least 8 Senators.
Now given that 90% of UK folk are left wing of Clinton...

To explain. The King or Queen of the UK is just that, the PRESENT Queen of the UK happens to be Head of the Commonwealth. Our Liz has a bunch of titles and not all of them follow the same "line".
Since she is the only person who has ever been the Head, no one knows who gets the role when she resigns or dies.
Charles, as Prince of Wales is the heir apparent to the British Throne. Just in case their is any confusion, the new King or Gueen declares him or herself King or Queen, then everyone gets together to hold a party and do the crowning thing (see Johnny English II for the facts).
Charles has been lobbying for the Commonwealth gig, but it will depend on stuff...

I once asked someone high up in the Commonwealth why we had it. He said "it is useful for peoples to get together to discuss the world who don't need the jokes explaining to them".

Margaret Thatcher needed just about every joke explaining. And I can't help wondering if Steven Harper was exactly a barrel of laughs.
