Trouble getting password for TRENITALIA purchase

I've registered on the trenitalia website and I got the message that they are emailing me my password for making purchases.

But that was hours ago and I still haven't gotten the email with the password. How long should this take?

Could this be a problem with my browser
( IE 6.0 ) or a "cookie" problem? I have the options set to accept the "cookies."

Thanks for any help.

Hi Suntravler
Hope you have your password by now. If not, persevere!, send them another request.

We have recently purchased the cheap Trenitalia Freedom of Travel tickets -Rome to Palermo (30 Euros each, 1st class, confirmed seating, etc). Tried for the extra cheapies (ec) 15 Euros each but it's all in the timing - you can only buy 59 days out. We waited, and waited, until B day (buy day), but then you wouldn't read about it our modem died and by the time we were able to log on all the (ec) tickets had gone. Hint: if they say all the window and next along seats are gone, try for the next to the door seats. We figured we'd probably be walking around, in the dining car, etc. and these seats would be OK? We'll find out in a few weeks!! GOOD LUCK, let us know how you get on.

Maybe it has something to do with the time difference.

Aussie_Travellers:

Thanks for your suggestions. I hope your plans work out well.

kybourbon: Thanks for your reply. The website says 24-hour service.

I still haven't received a password. And I haven't received a reply to my email to their "helpdesk" either.

I will have to keep trying.

Thanks again.

Have you considered waiting 24 hrs?

I received a password within seconds of registering recently.

"Have you considered waiting 24 hrs?"

Well, Ira, I guess I'll consider it now that you mention it, although I had interpreted this to mean that the service works 24 hours. And their response to my registration did say "we HAVE SENT..."

I am also concerned that maybe I need to change some settings on my browser in order for this whole transaction to work.

Anyway, I guess I am just very anxious for my trip to Venezia to work out perfectly. It's hard to wait patiently.

Thanks again.

Hi, Betsy:

That was my impression of how it's supposed to work. How long ago did you register? Was it recent?

What browser do you use? Did you make any special "cookie" settings?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Suntraveler. I'm using IE with all cookies accepted. At least I think I'm accepting all cookies, as I have chosen the "never ask" option in Preferences-->Receiving Files-->Cookies. My tech support (DH) is unavailable at the moment, so I can't ask. I registered within the past week or so.

Hi, Betsy....

Thanks for the reply and all the information.

I have GREAT NEWS (for me, anyway). I FINALLY got the password sent to me. It took "only" about 20 HOURS. Their system must have been a little slow today.

Anyway, I look forward to buying my tickets. Thanks again for all the help.
