PS: Finally thought of a way to tie this back to the Europe forum!! The answer to my bonus question above is related to the reason why my day-tour guide referred to Ben Cruachan, Scotland as the "Hollow Mountain"

I don't know the answer to the Niagara question,(this _is_ the Europe forum after all!!!) but I guess it's something to do with dams or electricity generation, since the reason Ben Cruachan is the Hollow Mountain is because it houses a Hydro elelctric plant inside it
