Trips From Rome--Suggestions
I will be in Rome with my family (2 adults, 4 children, great travelers) for 3 weeks in June. We will be busy Monday-Thursday, but then have each weekend for travel (2 weekends). We also may have 2 weekdays in-between for day trips. We would like to go to Florence (maybe combine it with somewhere else), and are looking for other suggestions. Can you propose some itinerary suggestions? Thank you!

Tivoli to see Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este. You can have a fabulous lunch at Sibilla, too.
If you go to Florence, you could spend a whole day there alone, but if you're going that far you can get to Pisa, Luca, and Siena fairly easily from Florence.

Ira, BookChick, and Steve,
Thanks for the suggestions. Can you give me more information on the places you suggested? I don't know anything about Orvieto, Ostia Antica, Sibilla, and most of the sites Steve mentioned. Also, can you sugges an itinerary for the two weekends that I have (Thurs afternoon thru Sunday). Thanks!

Hi tracy,
I fear that it is time for you to do your own research.
Try looking up each of the lace names at www.google.com.
Look for the miniguides to Rome at www.fodors.com.
Enter the names in the "search this forum" bix on this board.
Have fun planning.

Hi Tracy,
Sibilla is a restaurant in Tivoli. It looks like nothing special when you enter through the front door. Inside, however, it is large (it used to be an inn), and there is outdoor seating in a beautiful garden for dining. At the end of the garden are some ruins. The food there is fabulous! It is run by a woman, her husband and her 2 grown sons.
