Sam, looks like a great and busy trip! In Rome, I assume you are including St. Peter's in your Vaticano heading? Also, make sure you get a Vatican reservation prior to in order to avoid the VERY LONG LINE that can extend around the city walls. I do this all the time, and I know it's probably annoying on a Fodor's forum, but I cannot recommend enough Rick Steve's travel books for the sheer fact that they alert you to inexpensive ways to see the city as well as skip lines...and there can be a lot of lines. We had one for Paris, Venice, Florence, CT and Rome and the only ones we really used were for Paris and Rome.
I can't wait to hear about your trip.
P.S.
I know I'm in the minority in this, but I would much rather spend more time in Paris than in Florence or Rome so I love the idea that you are there for so long . Having said that, there are very different opinions on Rome vs Paris or Italy vs France so I'm excited to hear what you thought as well.
Happy Travels!

Thank you Lanee! Yes, I was including St Peter's and I did book the Vatican = )
I'm really happy to be going back to Paris. In a few years, hopefully I'll be doing this trip with a longer stay in whichever Italian city I fall most in love with = D

Lanee - Thank you! = D
Hazel1 - Thanks! I thought about it a lot. But I decided on the earlier train because I didn't want to get to Florence too late and inconvenience the B&B owner where I'll be staying. Also, due to the visa requirements, I had to buy tickets before hand, so I don't have the option of winging it = ( But I wish I could = )

sam, as I suspected above, you're not going to see the Bridge of Sighs... still hidden behind thick scaffolding, not even one inch of it is visible. Will have to wait until your next trip to Venice!

hey sam86, i had a few questions for you:
1. did you use any guidebook to compile the list of places to visit? i'm planning a trip to france/italy and it seems like you know quite a few places so i'd be interested to see where you found this info from
2. how long did it take you to get the schengen visa? is just the proof of tickets + travel insurance enough or do you also have to show hotel bookings too? (i have the same passport as you)

Dondoro -
1. I depended a lot on this forum. Read for weeks here, people's trip reports, itineraries and comments, and elsewhere on the web. And I depended a lot on Franco's advice (above).
2. I applied in the UK, at the French embassy. It took 2 weeks exactly. You should reserve hotels, it gives your application more credibility. Literally, provide as much information as you can. Every little bit improves the chances of getting a visa.
Good luck! = )
