I'm a bit late to the party, too, but there is one thing I would add that hasn't been mentioned here yet.

I think the volume of traffic varies here by season. While I have never bothered to count, I drew the conclusion last year that posting traffic falls off between May and October, probably because a lot of people are on holiday or even in their garden. If that is the case, then a trip report posted at this time of year might reach a slightly smaller audience.

As for trip reports in general, I don't mind long posts (having posted two longish ones myself). Rich description and emotion will turn my head. That recent report from mebe on her trip to Italy with her young daughter, for example, was touching, entertaining, and thought-provoking, a wonderful combination.

And lastly, having learned how difficult it is to write a report (and how brave you have to feel in order to post one), I have been trying to comment on the reports of others. I'm still a bit inconsistent, however, and missed yours entirely, Vera. So, a belated well-done and thanks for a great report.

And to add to Anselm's observations, while total usage volume here is down, being summer, trip reports are up. So there are fewer people to read an increasing number of trip reports. More competition among us report-writers!
