We went this weekend to see four very beautiful castles in Germany; here is a trip report.

Thank you Suja. I am thinking about a trip to Germany in September, but probably to the North/centre, not Bavaria, which sadly I know little about. If you could get there by easyjet, I might know it better!

@Ann: The world according to Easyjet I must say that I find the landscape of Southern Germany far more attractive than the North. But then I like mountains..

well suja, it doesn't necessarily have to be easyjet; in this case we were thinking of flying into Hannover and out of Stuttgart on Ryanair, which goes to both from Bristol, though we'd have to connect in B'ham.

we could see the Harz, work our way down though the Thüringer Wald to Bamberg, and then head west to visit our friends in the Pfalz before heading home.

just an idea; I am having problems getting DH to commit!

Suja, I love your travel style! On Mondays I look ahead to the weekend to see where we can go, and what we can do. From where we live in Vienna our options seem almost limitless! Happy Traveling!

@fourfortravel : Vienna sure is well placed! We feel equally lucky being in Switzerland - we can get to Italy, France, Germany, and even Austria fall into the within-4-hrs driving range. Thank you, happy travels to you too!

@Ann: It sounds like a good plan. I look forward to hearing all about your experiences when you surmount the convincing-DH block
