Palatino82, Glad I could be of some help. I envy you! You will have an awesome trip. Hope you will have time to write a trip report. I know it will bring back wonderful memories for me, & I like to hear what other travelers have to say. We liked what we saw of Ripoll; it is a clean and interesting city & wasn't filled with tourists. We didn't make it as far as Le Seu d'Urgell.

Nice trip report indeed. As a big fan of the Catalonia region, Ive written an article myself 'Keeping cool in Catalonia'. Enjoy reading and don't forget to comment! http://vidavilla.com/keeping-cool-catalonia/

I, too, am chiming in with compliments on your spectacularly informative trip report - thanks so much!!! I am giving it very close scrutiny as I plan a trip that includes many of the same places.
I am looking forward to almost every moment of my trip. Moments like those you describe on the road to Cadaques, not so much! ;-)
Thanks again. Any comments you care to offer on my preliminary plan (just click on my name) will be appreciated...

Planning summer trip with two "kids" aged 27 and 20, thinking Barcelona for 3-4 days, Menorca for 3-4 days (ancestral connection to 1760's immigrants to what is now Florida), and 3-5 days in the countryside of Catalonia. Originally thought to have base camp in countryside but it looks like it's better to move every day or so? How far can we get (Pyrenees or Andorra?), interested in picturesque, history, architecture.. Starting to think we should ditch the interior (bye bye cava) and stay to the coastal areas. Trying to give us all a blend of cosmopolitan, history, and quaint, Any suggestions appreciated.

I haven't been on Fodors Europe forum for awhile, so I just noticed people have been commenting on my trip report. I hope everyone who planned a similar trip enjoyed it and had a great time. Glad to hear my report was of some help!

Karen....ran across your wonderful report and enjoyed reading it again! Remembering how we had selected some of the same lodgings. I now live in the little town of Ojai in California....so many similarities to small towns in Catalonia.... assume you still live in Mass. (my home state)

Stu, I remember you. You are originally from Quincy, right? We live near Hopkinton where the Boston Marathon starts.
I have been on this board recently because we are planning a trip to Madrid and Andalucía in September. My screen name is now KarenWoo; I accidentally changed it several years ago.
