Trip report-Amsterdam

Had a two day layover in Amsterdam and here's what I loved and hated:
Loved:
1. RLD (very interesting area)
2. Coffee Shops (brought back college memories)
3. Van Gogh museum (very cool)
4. Canal cruise (I enjoyed but not nearly as much as I was expecting)
Food (loved the cheese!)

Hated:
1. Anne Franke House (big big disappointment!)
2. The noise in the square area at night makes it difficult to sleep
3. Anne Franke House (big big big disappointment!!!)

What did you expect at the Anne Frank house? Mechanical robots of Anne and family acting out scenes from the diary? A tram taking you on a ride through the house? I can't imagine how someone could be disappointed visiting the site where a human and global tragedy took place.

Len, the only troll is the small one in your pants that won't stand up. And X... while I was not expecting a small small world type of ride, I was expecting a lot more than what I saw. My guess is neither of you have actually been and you are only assuming that it must be something more than it really is!
The reason I was disappointed was as follows:
1. The front of the building is about as post war era as an Andy Warhol painting.
2. The so-called museum adds little or no insight beyond what her book discussed(actually a lot less)
3. The coffee shop and book store in the building are as big as the so-called museum.
PS: save the 6 euros and go to the Van Gogh museum!
Funny, I thought the Ann Frank house was very interesting (and I didn't bother for my first 4 visits to Amstehdam) and I thought the Van Gogh museum was a huge disappointment (although the letters in the basement were interesting). Just shows that there are clearly different interests for different people.

The Rijksmuseum, on the other hand, was fantastic.
