Trip planning for Austria

Hi,

I am travelling to Munich for a couple of days in April for business and from there I want to go to Vienna and Salzburg for a 2-3 day trip. Any suggestions on how I can plan my trip. I would love to see some beautiful landscapes for sure.

If you have two days to visit two cities, there is little planning to consider.... just move on.

Salzburg, if one commits to being on the go dawn to dusk, can be explored fairly thoroughly in two days. Vienna definitely requires at least 3 full days to even see the highlights. With more time in Vienna, an afternoon and evening visiting the heurigers that ring the city is delightful. These are wine taverns situated in the vineyards just outside Vienna and the setting is stunning. You can use public transport to get out of town and then walk, following the signs.

PS. With such a short visit, why not stay in Salzburg the entire time since it is so close to Munich? You'd lose very little sightseeing time getting there, and you could day trip to the Salzkammergut (lake country) from there. Hallstatt is beautiful, there are many great choices though!
