trip around the world

Mimi, I'm interested. Had been looking at American Airlines version, but it has actually gotten more restrictive since they became "One World Alliance". What is your ticket and what are the restriction, number of continents, etc.? If I were doing it, I would include a stop in India, one place I don't have a burning desire to use up a major vacation to go to, but would like it if included on such a round the world ticket. I'd also certainly include Moscow or St. Petersburg for the reason. I also have never had a burning desire to go to Hawaii being a Floridian, but what a great free stopover it would make on the way to the Orient! I do know that I would prefer flying westward as it seems the times come out so much better for a lack of jet lag.

Hi Mimi!
I have done the around the world ticket twice and both times was on United. We had to make 3 stops and couldn't backtrack, but those were the only restrictions. If you have never been to Asia Pac, I would recommend Hong Kong. It is also possible to hit Australia, but it is a big continent (same land mass as US) and it eats up a lot of time flying there. In Europe, the possibilties are endless. I can give you better help if you tell us which airlines your ticket is on and what cities you have an interest in.

Hi Mimi,

We too have recently purchased a round the world fare. It is with the star alliance group ie. Singapore airlines, United, Air NZ, Lufthansa. Very reasonable. Refer Conde Neste travel mag for run down on all the Round World tickets available. We are half way and have stopped in LAX, NY,then to Frankfurt, Lyon, Milan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, New Zealand. We began in NZ. I think NZ and Australia are good value on this type of ticket as they are so far away from the rest of the world. You could also stop in Tahiti, Hawaii, Fiji. The world is your oyster!
