Is February a good month to visit Amsterdam?
Hi,we live in Germany and will be taking a holiday starting the second week of February. My husband wishes to travel to Berlin and then over to Amsterdam, we have 8days. Does anyone know if this is enough time to see both cities? We will travel by car from Frankfurt, Germany. Also is it advisable to drive in the Netherlands without snow tires? Thanks in advance for your responses.

We had a fabulous time in February in Amsterdam! I'd do it again in a second. There were no big line-ups anywhere (although the Van Gogh museum started to get busy in the afternoon). We went to the Holland Experience and were the only two in the theatre. The weather wasn't too cold and it rained just one day of our week's stay.

Nobody ever uses snow tyres in the Netherlands. February is one of the coldest months in Western Europe, so bring warm clothes. The Netherlands has a similar climate to Germany, just a bit milder.
January and February are the only low-season months for tourism in Amsterdam, so you should have no problem finding accommodation.

Hiya,
We were in Berlin last weekend and we loved it.2 days were too short I felt but it depends what you want to visit.
Well,Amsterdam is a city one can visit anytime. On a cold winters morning sunshining ....it is a beautiful city to visit. There is everything one can find under the sun in Amsterdam.
Have a great time.A.

O.K. I'm outvoted ( I was the one who said No).
It's just that I enjoy the outdoor cafe life, canal cruises, bike rides, and long light Summer evenings, none of which are enjoyable, or even possible, in February.
I'm also lucky enough to remember Amsterdam before the graffitti, drug scene, and weekend trips for drunks took over, and when Canal Street was fun.
Must be a boring old f--t

Tony,
I'm not sure what you mean by not being able to take canal cruises in February. We took both night and daytime cruises and found them very enjoyable, particularly the one at night.
Also, trains were generally not busy which made travelling around the country a pleasant experience. (True, I did notice a lot of graffiti riding the train in and out of Amsterdam.)
