trenitalia fares accurate?
Hello All,
I have read that traveling by train in Italy is relatively inexpensive. I have just got prices on RailEurope Trenitalia website. Round trip tickets for our family of four from Chiusi to Florence round trip one day is $249.00. Almost the same price from Siena to Florence and Florence to Lucca round trip. We will have a car, just thought it would be less hair raising to train to the cities. Am I reading everything right, or do these prices seem accurate?
Thanks!

Hey Massagediva,
What am I doing wrong. Google Trenitalia, click, RailEurope. Choose
my cities, round trip with date (one day trip up and back) 2 adults, 1 youth, 1 child. Price $249.00 This was Chiusi to Florence roundtrip.

Tiller,
I suspect you have the wrong Web site.
Try your trips again at
www.trenitalia.com
You can click on "English" in the upper right-hand corner.
For Siena-Florence round trip, I would suggest the bus, which takes you up into Siena (the train station is down at the bottom of the hill):

Hi T,
You don't want to buy tickets through Raileurope. They are a ticketing agency.
Go directly to www.trenitalia.com.
Adult fare, 2 cl, Florence to Lucca is 5E each way.

Thank you Eloise and Ira:
Whew- those prices were scary, figured we definitely would be driving all the time. Found the "real"website and round trip to Florence from Chiusi looks to be about 52E! Thanks again, I was getting a little discouraged checking on those "differently" price fares.
