Travelling in Europe - brochure
Here is a nice simple little EU publication about travelling in Europe which I came accross. It is a bit over simplified for the seasoned fodorite - as most here are - but for someone starting a trip - I think it does the basics well.

I'd also recommend the free European Planning & Rail Guide, a US production but one with invaluable tips for novice travelers - oriented to train travel but lots of info on lots of things and it's free (www.budgeteuropetravel.com)
