3 months in Europe

Hey guys. My friend and I are looking at heading over to Europe next year for the summer, hopefully looking at spending around 3 months there depending on the savings between now and then! We're looking at doing tomorrow land, sail Croatia and then finish it off with Oktoberfest. We are aware doing all that and backpacking for 3 months isn't going to be cheap.
Just looking for some tips on anything and what I'd probably need to save for a trip like that!

Lonely Planet runs a forum that is very popular with backpackers & train pass travellers who are doing long stays and visiting multiple countries. They have some extended threads and permanent info about how to estimate costs for the kind of trip you are hoping to take. Plus, they have sympathetic, friendly posters when it comes to newbies. Check it out.

Let's Go Europe is a great resource for any backpacker on a budget -especially astute on critiquing cheap places to stay

Some great sources on planning a train trip: www.ricksteves.com; www.seat61.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com (online European Planning & Rail Guide has many sample rail itineraries).

Suggest reading Rough Guide's "First Time Europe" and possibly "Europe Through the Back Door" on planning budget travel.

Also suggest time with glossy guidebooks like Eyewitness and Insight to decide where to go - you don't have anything like enough for three months as yet. And what is "tomorrow land"?

If under 29 you can get a Eurail Youthpass - great deal if taking many trains.

Tomorrowland is an electronic music festival in Belgium, in Boom. It is big, and well-known amongst those in the scene (not me ).

Berlin has I understand a thriving techno/acid/whatever electronic music scene.

If you don't have EU citizenship, make sure you don't spend more than 90 days within the Schengen zone.
