I booked my train tickets and I will be in Cordoba for a day trip for about 8 hours on a Sunday. I am planning on visiting the Mezquita, Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, and Palacio de Viana . Please let me know if you suggest doing anything else while I am there.

Those are good choices for Cordoba, IMO. It's also a great city for just roaming around and peeking into courtyards.
