Traveling to Northern Italy
I wanted to ask if anyone knows how difficult is it to travel from Genoa to Sicily? I wanted to know
if you had to fly or take the train? If anyone has taken this trip please respond to me post.
I thank you in advance for your help.

You could take the train to Civitavecchia (3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours) and then an overnight ferry to Palermo from there. The ferry doesn't run every day.

It would still take a very long time, but most of it would be overnight.

Ryan Air flies a route Genoa-Trapani. I've done it. Perfecly nice flight!
I believe you can also take a ferry between Palermo & Genoa -- which I have never done. That would be an overnight trip, or perhaps an all day trip. At least 12 hours, I would think.
