PQ: >>Two conflicting views - again janis where do you get your facts - Woin is a semi-resident of Paris so I'd take his word more but obviously have some reason to say it - how do you know - sincerely as this topic comes up again and again.<<

Uh -- no. WoinParis was being sarcastic.

To my knowledge and yes I made phone calls, renters in Paris are allowed to rent up to 120 days per year.

That is correct but only if the room or apartment being rented is the owner´s primary residence (which some of the airbnb listings actually are). This arrangement has many advantages such as being able to share the owners toothpaste in case you forget yours.

In reference to someone making comments while hiding behind a screen; I am sure that this happens. However, I shall be glade to discuss the fine points of illegal apartment rentals face to face when you arrive in Paris. I´ll even buy the coffee.

And I did not want to forget this:

There is a wonderful phone ap called Metro 01 (Paris) where you just put where you are starting your journey and where you want to go and it will tell you which line, where to change trains, and how long the trip will take. We find it invaluable whenever we are in Paris.
Fingers crossed for your rental apartment. We also have one booked for May next year !

Don't neglect the buses when moving around in Paris.

For some distances (too long to walk when tired but not so long as to definitely require the Metro), IMHO, they are better than the Metro. After all, as tourists, we enjoy looking at everything as we ride.

Line maps are available for download to your phone and are also usually posted at the stops. Just be aware of lines that don't run on Sunday.
