Travel time Praiano to Naples Centrale

Dear Experienced Travels:

can you advise us on how much time to allocate to travel by bus, train, etc from Praiano, Italy to Naples? We will be catching a 12:30 PM train back to Florence in early October.

Thanks

Hi SN,

SITA bus schedules are at http://tinyurl.com/b9mja

The Circumvesuviana takes about 1hr to Naples from Sorrento.

Hi Norsk - Your best route would be via Salerno rather than Sorrento, I think.

I suggest you catch the bus from Praiano to Amalfi (- 20 mins), then ferry to Salerno (- 35 mins).

The current ferry timetable lists a 10.40 departure from Amalfi (- which would get you into Salerno about 11.15).

http://www.salernocity.com/comune/tr...i/costiera.asp

(This service normally runs well into October, weather permitting).

The Trenitalia website lists an 11.42 Eurostar train to Florence (- changing at Roma Termini).
Arr. Florence 16.29.

www.trenitalia.com

You'd need to confirm the ferry timetable, of course (- and have a Plan 'B' just in case ...) - but that would be your most convenient option IMO.

The current online Sita timetable is valid only until 9 Sept, so you can check after that date.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Good thought, Steve.

The SITA bus goes to the Salerno train station, with a change of buses in Amalfi.

Train schedules to Florence from Naples and Salerno are at www.trenitalia.com.

Swiss,

These guys are right on the money about Salerno. Take the SITA bus. The stop/transfer in Amalfi is nice, right on the breakwater.

You'll probably end up on the same train out of Salerno that you were targeting in Naples, with fewer hassles.

Thank you all!

That is a great help...and also takes some of the concern about the crime and hassle of the Naples station.

Thanks again, SwissNorsk
