Travel Theme at Fall Fashion 2005
While eating lunch today, I decided instead of dessert I'll click on the NY Times Audio Slide Show of Fall Fashion 2005, narrated by one of my favorite fashion writers, Cathy Horyn. Sweet but less fattening.
It's Fashion Week in NYC and too bad I have to miss it. But for any woman who wishes to know how to dress and <b>not</b> look like a tourist, the Audio Slide Show is terrific fun.
Cathy's favorite pick, the green sweater and black and white skirt by Oscar de la Renta, is one of my least favorites but I absolutely LOVED her line:
<i>"...but this is fashion; it's not supposed to be for everyone."</i>
Enjoy!

Thank you, StCirq.
I think and write so fast sometimes I don't proof and forget to copy links. When I wrote this, the Audio Slide Show appeared on the home page and I'm used to assuming everyone knows that's www.nytimes.com (if you don't, you should, and bookmark it).
StCirq was kind enough to offer navigation directions which are now necessary since instant access is gone from the home page.
ps Speaking of awful looking fashion...my Powerbook is having hard drive palpitations over the very new, very unattractive Fodor's header. Yikes! From bad to downright horrible. Danny come back.

peeky, it seems you were too busy looking instead of listening (even though you caught the timbre of Cathy's voice) but, that's OK, it was a slide show.
Cathy used the term "Travel Theme" to describe her take on the clothes and repeated the word "travel" in her Audio script. Simply by looking at the pictures, there's no way one could identify any travel angle in obvious terms. There isn't a picture of an airline employee delivering lost luggage.
I've been told I sound a little like Cathy but my voice is less monotone; I have much more range. Fashionistas aren't allowed to sound happy. My voice is pitched low but, when you hear it, you can tell I like to laugh. And my laugh is big and hearty. It always catches people by surprise and my friends get a kick out of it. That's why they always try to crack me up.
