Travel Medical Insurance
My husband & I are going to France in June. Spoke with our insurance provider about coverage if we got sick or in an accident. They do not cover out of the U.S. Does anyone have any experience with the travel insurances available? Which ones are good? Which to avoid?
Thanks

If you're travelling outside the US for educational purposes.....some companies offer medical insurance specifically for that purpose. I found the following University of Michigan webpage that might provide useful info:

Also, the US State Dept website suggests (but does not endorse) some companies who offer medical insurance to Americans travelling outside the US:

I haven't checked it out, but here's a website that compares more than 30 brands of travel insurance.

REad the fine print.
Some policies won't cover pre-existing conditions. The defintion of what is a pre-existing condition or exclusion rests entirely on the language in the insurance policy.
Most policies wil state that coverage is only what is included in the written policy. Statements on websites or by "customer service" reps are of no consequence.
