My husband, 4 year old daughter and I will be travelling to France for 6 weeks next June and early July. We will be landing in Paris (a place we have both been to in the past) and renting a car to travel to our destinations. We plan to stay about 3 nights in the following cities: Just as a side note we love wine, adorable little cities, photography and great food!

I'd strongly advise, particularly with a wee one along, that you rent apartments, maybe 3 for 2 weeks each, and do day trips rather than moving so much. I don't think there's as much to be gained as you might think by all the buzzing around and I think the adults might benefit as well as the baby girl.

For instance, Dijon and Beaune are very close together so I'd advise staying in Beaune and taking the train to Dijon to see the lovely city center then retire back to the quiet of Beaune. Then see the surrounding wine country at your leisure.

way toooo much travelling with a small child in tow

That would be nightmarish with a small child, packing up and unpacking and moving around so much. Pick 3-4 places and rent for a week or two in each so you can settle in, get the child accustomed to a routine, and learn your way around the area.

BTW, it's Strasbourg. And Sarlat (Dordogne). You can't do much good research on the internet without the correct spellings.

Get a good map of France so you can pick base spots and figure out your daytrips from them. Then connect the cots to plan your overall route. You can return the car anywhere in France (assuming you're renting one) without any surcharges.
