travel insurance - USA to London
First I have read many other post about insurance and WOW - I dont understand insurance but I think would feel better with it!.
We are booked for London Mid March - I did purchase insurance when we booked the flights - this is covering delays, interruption, medical BUT is the medical cover only during the flight or for the entire trip?? How do I find out?? I have sent an email to BCBS about medical coverage while in London - after being on hold forever and no response. From their website it looks like I have coverage BUT want for sure!!
I am wanting coverage for the flat we are letting - I read their policy and if cancelled I could lose the $$$ paid if WE cancel.
There are five in our group and since we have flight insurance and IF our medical insurance covers us would we need travel insurance on each of us to cover the flat??
Thoughts???

oh2 -
when you booked your flight with the insurance, there should be an insurance policy somewhere, telling you what the coverage is, with a contact number for you to phone if you need to claim.
but if you can't find this, can you go to the website where you booked your flight and insurance and make a dummy purchase? this should enable you to look at the policy they offer and check the coverage.
I should add that it is highly unlikely that they have sold you a policy that covers medical matters only during the flight, but you never know.
if the insurance you already have covers medical problems, delays etc. then that is standard travel insurance and you shouldn't need anything else.
a note of caution, however, you talk about coverage if YOU cancel the flat rental - any travel insurance would only cover the cost of cancellation in certain specified circumstances - typically one of you being unable to travel due to certified medical reasons, not just because you decided not to.
but as jj says, you need to look at the policy.

Agreed - travel insurance does not cover your just changing your mind. It covers only very specific issues which are outlined in the policy, usually starting with the illness of one of the travelers (which you have to prove) - but usually also covering costs of medical care if yuo become ill during the trip.
But you need to check specifically what your policy covers - and make sure that it covers cost of an apartment rather than just a hotel.

I checked deeper into my email and yes all was outlined in it plus I called and talked to them. Medical is covered for the entire trip. I did add to cover the cost of the flat we rented - the ONLY reason WE would cancel would be major reason but wanted to be covered - adding $2500 to cover the flat was only $75 - divided 5 ways to cheep for piece of mind!!
Again thanls for the great advice!!!
