Hi, I've used National Express from LHR to Victoria station. What would you like to know?

Hi eotner --

You might look into the Oyster card... and yes there are still travelcards.

Enjoy!

A new electronic card has been introduced all over London. Called Oyster, it offers numerous advantages over the old paper Travelcards. See here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/oysteronline/2732.aspx

With a 2-Zone Travelcard loaded on an Oyster, your Tube fare from Heathrow to London can be as little as £1 (off-peak).

Yes. I always stay in Victoria, but seem to fly into Heathrow for some reason (for my sins). Usually, I cart my luggage on the Tube. The one time I used NE, my flight arrived late at night. For the sake of safety, I grabbed one of their buses. It was cheap, comfortable, and made several but quick stops. It was nice to relax and take in the scenery.

I didn't order my tickets through their site or buy them at the airport. I just waited at one of their terminal stops and payed the driver directly. I don't know if that's the way they work, but I could tell that the driver took pity on me and accepted cash (I got there sweaty and out of breath right before the last bus).

The National Express bus goes to Victoria Coach station. It is about 2 blocks from Victoria tube and train station. It isn't that far - but could be a surprise if you arrive w/ too much luggage, late at night, to discover you have to schlepp things to Victoria.

If you are w/i walking distance of the Coach station - the Nat'l Express might be a good idea. But on a budget, I'd personally prefer the tube because it is usually faster and gets me to the tube station.

Where are you staying? There may be other/better options.
