The title of Annie Hawes' excellent second book (the first is Extra Virgin) is Ripe for the Picking. Available on the amazon UK site....Set again in Liguria.

I just started Extra Virgin. Is it better? My friend from London is meeting us in Rome, I'll have her bring it. Thanks

Yes.

The Carnaroli is marginally better - a creamier texture, I think.

Panucci, I thought Ripe for the Picking was basically a continuation of Annie Hawes' story, simply moving forward in time. In terms of the "cast of characters," her sister temporarily fades out of the picture and her Italian boyfriend fades in. If you like Extra Virgin, you probably will like the second book.

That's good enough for me. The article I read must have over-blown the difference. I'm reading a wonderful book on France by Julian Barnes, "Something To Declare."
