My wife and I are schedule to cruise the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel next month and then spend 4 days in lucern, Switzerland. I plan on buying a 3 or 4 day 2nd class Swiss Rail pass but wondering the best way to travel from Lucern the morning of 8/2/22 to Bellagio on lake Como. If possible, I would like to (use my Swiss pass) take the Bernia (s) express from Lucern to maybe Lugano, Switzerland then take a buss/ferry from there to our hotel Excelsior in Bellagio. I have looked at a few other alternatives/routes, but want to get the best sight seeing bang for our (wife and another couple) buck.

Check rome2rio.com for overview of options. You could take a bus to Como and then go to Bellagio. Or since there are 4 of you, could you rent a car? Where do you go after Bellagio which might help decide Lucerne-Bellagio?

But in my opinion, it would be a complete nonsense to stay more than 10 hrs in trains and cross the most scenic areas of Switzerland without leaving the train. The real gems cannot be seen from a railcar window.
