Travel by train from Genoa to Barcelona

Hi guys, I'm looking into traveling from Genoa to Barcelona and from other threads, it looks like the way to go is from Genoa to Torino, and then Torino to Barcelona. However, going to Trenitalia, when I put in Torino to Barcelona Frans, the site doesn't allow me to purchase tickets. THe price comes out as N/A. Train category is EN? Could this be the reason?

Do you want to do this in daylight or at night? You could pick up the Milan-Barcelona sleeper train in Torino. See elipsos.com - this is a different company so you may not be able to purchase tickets on Trenitalia. Or you could be booking too far out.

I'm planning on traveling this route at night, and so I was hoping to get a compartment for me and my companion. This is for March 7 or 8. Is it too far out? I would be interested in a route that passes through Nice though

If you're traveling at night it doesn't make any difference whether you go through Nice or not. Your best option is the Elipsos Trenhotel (see the link I posted and seat61.com for accommodation options) otherwise you'll have to change trains.

I think March is too far out - the cutoff for trenitalia is 60 days. Pretend you're traveling in February to see prices. But looks like you can book on elipsos.com for March. BTW, that train goes into Barcelona Franca.

Thanks. Doesn't seem like it's working out for me... Trenitalia from Genoa to Torino arrives at 2135, but Elipsos train leaves TO at 2109. So it looks like I have to wait til next week before I can book for March 7th in Trenitalia (Genoa to Barcelona). Sorry, it's my first time to visit Europe and doing all my planning now. Appreciate the help.

So take an earlier train to Turin! Actually, pick it up at Novara instead. See bahn.de for the schedules.
