It's a wide open question. I would say CAR would be one good option. Some would say you don't want to drive in Edinburgh.....we had no trouble at all...But we only stayed 2 nights (and continued on further into Scotland) and there was parking close. IF you are staying in Edinburgh several days, I guess the train would be the best.
