The IST ataturk airport is closer to the city, on the european side. taxi to historic sultanahmet hotels is about 35-45TL. There is also regular shuttle and metro

SGA the sabiha Gokcen airport is quite far on the asian side.
taxi could be 90-120TL. there is a less frequent regular shuttle and a bus which you would need to change to get to Taksim or Sultanahmet, or take ferry after the bus.

THY is vey good, Pegasus is good, atlas Air is acceptable, Onur air is a no no. I do not know the others.

and Kendy, what you are saying is like "we are staying in newyork so how to get to airports" JFK, LGA or Newark?, depends on what part of New York you are staying, Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey?

Thanks for the reply Atlas seemed to be the cheapest but will go for THY or pegasus but I think pegasus only goes from Gokcen to Antalya could you confirm.
No we are not staying in New York. We are form NZ and will be touring Turkey 15 days then to a timeshare in Antalya

You're right, pegasus has very few flights from IST and none to Antalya.

The difference in the cost of getting to and back from Gokcen may bring the flight cost to same as THY.

It is only an hour fifteen minute flight and you could take Atlas also. Also check Sun Express, although I know nothing about them.

Pardon the interference, but if you are touring, probably with an organized tour, can't you ask them to drop you in Antalya instead of bringing you back to Istanbul?

Pegasos flies from S.Gokcen (SAW)to Antalya (AYT)

http://www.flypgs.com/EN/

Istanbul - S.Gokcen (SAW) - Antalya (AYT)

October 54.99 TRY
November 31.99 TRY
December 31.99 TRY
January 31.99 TRY
February 31.99 TRY

I think that the Ataturk airport would be the most convenient for you however if you can get a cheap flight from the S.Gokcen airport then why not..however you will spend more time to get to and from this airport.

all the domestice flights are pretty much the same and it is only just an hours flight so no need for frills etc..
