Will it be a formal wedding? This will have to be taken into consideration when packing. Should I bring clothes that will coordinate with everything else and will it all fit into a carry-on bag?

Of course the wedding will be formal and the ceremony and reception can all be held during a layover of 2 hours .. plenty of time to get into town, change clothes, party and still get back to the airport.

This will be my first time at a wedding, what are the must sees and don't bothers? Will the bride and groom accept my credit card in place of gifts? Will there be an ATM kiosk inside the church?

And I guess one more person will know the answer to that famous question about Scots.

Hey, is this going to be another drunk mamma thread?
Becky

I have resigned from my job in Scotland for a number of reasons: poor wages, boss doesnt remember my name, i was bored, I dont think I am a 9-5 guy etc etc.

In an effort to get others to read my travel stories, I attached an excerpt from one of them on a 'farewell, come to the pub' email to everyone in my organisation (approx. 4000 people) yesterday - I will see how many replies I get on monday morning at work.

Incidentally I was out last night. Ed came back from the bar with a bag of crisps (potato chips) as well as beer for me so I stuck my chewed gum behind my ear, intending to finish it later. Obviously I forgot all about it until this morning when I wondered why my ear was stuck to the side of my head. I have shampooed four times already but its still there, I'm going to have to shave my head I think...oh what about the wedding photos, though???

What a great board!! I have only been here a week and am having a riot reading your posts. We don't leave until early summer and the planning and anxiety over flying are taking a backseat to the fun of hearing your stories.

Of course newbies are invited to this wedding, just remember to try and blend in with the locals, altho wearing black to a wedding may not be "correct"! I guess Tony will have to get these wedding pictures posted on the web so that we can all see how everyone looked!

I am planning to wear my wedding clothes on the plane [travel light you know!] Do you think it will hurt my chances for getting an updrade to business class? What if I offer to order the checkin agent Angelina's chocolate from Norm Thompson?
I just received an e-mail from a gentleman claiming that he could secure appropriate lodgings for the wedding guests. His name is Dr. Abate. Does any one have any experience with his services?

I'm in Monica.

I have been pondering the question of what to buy as a wedding gift. Should I bring something that is famous from my home state of Kentucky, i.e. bourbon, a race horse, or bluegrass. Can't make up my mind.

Sure, Drunk Momma can come providing she can also visit 14 cities in 14 days and see "all" the sites in all of them (maybe she can ride Tammy's racehorse!!) after the wedding.

Hello again, this is the lucky one who will be wearing crispy pink nylon and comfy walking shoes down the aisle... Got the pictures back from my trip--only one of us together. In light of recent developments on this forum, I guess it will have to suffice as an engagement photo. And to answer the gift question, all cheques can be made out directly to me, Tony has agreed that this is the best arrangement. Is it acceptable to send email thank you notes?
omigod - how did I miss this one the first time around!! You guys always brighten my day! Re the orginal question - I met my husband thru a girlfriend after he saw my picture (30 years ago) on the wall of a bar that doubled as a travel agency (and it still does). The owner would show slides all the time of all the travelers; it was great for enticing people to come back and see their pictures. And our first date was a trip to Hawaii, and we've been married/traveling ever since!
Now to the wedding....I can bring ten cases of Coke, but should it be in soft or hard luggage??

*Will the wedding ceremony be in English or Scottish? (Will I need to bring a pocket translator?)

*Is it okay for my 14 year old son to bring a date? (Even though we weren't invited and we won't bring a gift.)

*Is there a Rick Steves tour that includes this wedding as part of a package?
