Transportation within Milan

We are spending most of our October trip to Italy based in Bologna, but are making a few day trips. We will spend one day in Milan, concentrating on the Duomo and the Last Supper (yes, I already have tickets). It appears that Milan Centrale is quite a ways from those two destinations. With limited time, should we just take a taxi from the train station to the Duomo? Or is the tram system simple enough to figure out?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about trams, but if you take a taxi from the station to the Duomo, there is a bus stop close by that stops right in front of the Last Supper, or take a taxi from the station to the Last Supper and then the bus to the Duomo.

There are just 4 metro stations between Milano Centrale and the Duomo (Metro M3).
Milan metro works like all other metros in the world.
But it's up to you to know whether " the metro system is simple enough to figure out".

Thanks. I was actually asking how easy the tram system is to figure out.

Yes, the tram system is easy to figure out.

Especially because the mass transit system in Milan is managed as elsewhere in the world; because in the age of internet the worst thing that can happen to you is going in the wrong direction for a couple of stops; because the same company ( A.T.M. ) runs trams, buses and metros.
