Transportation to Matera from Salerno

I'll be traveling to Matera from Salerno in May (mid week). Does anyone have any information about the most reliable option to get there? From what I've been able to look up online there's a train from Salerno to Ferrandina and then from there by bus to Matera, plus another option I found by bus from Salerno directly to Matera. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Going the opposite direction, we used a driver from Matera to Farrandina, where we took the train to Salerno.

The driver was found through a TA in Matera, but I'm sure a TA or hotel in Salerno could find one. If this interests you, I would probably just google driver in Salerno.

Thank you for your reply. I had considered this option (taking the train from Salerno to Ferrandina and then hiring a private shuttle company to come pick us up and take us to Matera). Were there any delays on the train on your way to Salerno? I'm just wondering this in case of delays with the train affecting a pick up in Ferrandina.

It's been a long while, but I think you can take a bus from Salerno to Farrandina and then take another bus, which is timed to facilitate the transition, from Farrandina to Matera. I just did a quick search on rome2rio, and it looks like that's still an option.

ktrfg: our train from Frrandina was on time. It was a morning train, as I recall.
