Transportation from Nice to Monte Carlo

Hello,
My husband and I are planning a trip to the casino's in Monte Carlo in the eveing. I was just wondering what is the best way to get from Nice to Monte Carlo around 3-4ish PM and then what is the best way to get back to NIce at night probably between 12-2AM. Is there safe public transportation? Is cab expensive? PLEASE ADVICE!!!!!!

Our apartment in Nice is in Old Towne if that helps.

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!

For the return trip from Monte Carlo, the last bus leaves ~20:30 http://www.cg06.fr/fr/servir-les-hab...s-et-horaires/ #100, #100, #112

and the last train leaves ~23:58 www.voyages-sncf.com

safe (or not), there isn't any running at the time you need to travel.

It's only about 15km. You can walk back.

Agree with kerouac. After 5 hours in the casino the OP won't have bus money anyway.

Be aware that casino in Monte Carlo is NOT like Las Vegas. there are dress codes (very dressy for inner rooms) and minimum bets are not low. Monte Carlo is really for the rich (and they definitely discourage the poor) - and if you are going to spend the evening there you should plan on living like one.

i was going to mention the dress code...i could not even enter the lobby in the early afternoon without a tie and jacket...

taxi would be quite expensive...

i would bag the idea personally, or i would rent a car for the day......if you do keep driving down and down through the city and there is a huge garage under the aquarium at the very bottom near the sea..

Definitely go if for nothing else than to see the beautiful inner room and to watch the idle rich pee their money away. Once you are in you are not required to gamble. Yes, dress up. Stay a few hours and catch the last train back to Nice, unless you are breaking the bank.

Then again, there is another less formal casino in Monaco (but also in Nice).
