transportation from lucca to florence and Sienna

three couples have rented a villa in lucca in may 2013. we are looking to arrange travel into Sienna and Florence with a taxi/tour service since driving into the city is forbidden. Any suggestions as to what company to use for this type of service?

Florence is easily accessible by train from Lucca. Check www.trenitalia.com for timetable. And Florence station is not far from the city centre (e.g. the Duomo or Ponte Vecchio less than 1km).

Siena can also be reached by train or bus but would take longer.

I suggest www.hillsandroads.com/
I used them twice in September to go from Florence to Arezzo province and back and they were great; we had Andrea, a very personable and safe driver.

You can take the train or a bus from Lucca to Florence(about 7€ one way). Both will put you at the edge of the historic center which is very walkable (20-30 minutes from side-to-side).

Siena is not so easy from Lucca. It would take 2 1/2 - 3 hours one way with multiple train connections either in Florence or Pisa and Empoli. Might be easier to bus or train to Florence and catch the Sita bus. Don't think it would save any time thought.

There are a lot of tour companies in the area such as Caf that runs tours from Florence. I'm sure there would be one or two in Lucca or in nearby Pisa (25 minutes by train).

Click on Lucca to get a list of travel agencies in Lucca. Some of them will offer tours.
