Susan -- as you can see from the other posting, which I retrieved via an archives search in this forum, Fodor's has great resources in its archives of past postings. I wanted to bring them to your attention, because you may be able to use them to find info not just about Rome airport, but other aspects of your trip as well. To find that other thread, I did a text search for "Rome Airport Transit" under the topic "Italy." You could try the same thing for "Rome Airport ATM", I'm pretty sure there was a recent posting on the issue. You'd be amazed how much info is collected on this site. Have fun.
Helen

Susan, there was a cash mahine in the baggage claim area to change US$20 to lira. There was also an ATM machine after leaving the baggage claim area. Follow the overhead signs and/or ask for directions. I believe I turned right coming out of the baggage claim area and it was a short walk to the ATM machines which were around a corner.

Hi Susan- I guess *I'll* be the one to ask the sterotypical sexist question
. Just how much luggage do you four ladies have
? Can it all fit in the trunk/boot of the taxi? With 3 people in the back and 1 in the front it doesn't leave much room inside. Also if it's too much to handle on the trains/bus with 4 of you buying seperate tickets plus *maybe* a taxi from the station to your hotel, a taxi from the airport would only cost alittle more (split 4 ways) with *alot* less hassle. Back to the luggage question, if it won't fit in a taxi you might want to hire a car/driver to meet you at the arrivals gate with a stationwagon or minivan. I splurged once in 96 and had a car/driver meet me (had the little sign with my name on it and a Mercedes
, I forget the price but maybe ~100k+ Lira. If you're using a T-Agent ask them or search some Italy web sites. I always try to arrive hassle-free and get that countries money from my bank (at *bad* rates, also request small bills) before I leave, for transportation, tips and things. HTH Regards, Walter
