Two transportation question for the experts:
1. What is the best option for four (two teens and two adults with not a lot of luggage--our goal is carryons) from CDG airport to an apartment in Marais. The Apartment is through Cobblestone and they have a shuttle bus for €89.00. Not sure how that compares to a cab? Or if the subway is direct great but with jetlag... not dying to be figuring out transfers. I just hate our first day for the four of us to be bickering on a street in Paris when we are lost, hungry and tired.


2. While we are at it: how about Marais to PARIS GARE DE LYON for a 10:00 am train departure with two teens that are hard to wake up?

A taxi will cost much less.

(it isn't a 'subway in Paris -- it is the Metro). You'd take the RER train into central Paris and then the Metro to whichever station is nearest your apartment so for a family of 4 with likely jet lag, just take a taxi.

Exactly where is the apartment? The Marais is a large area with several metro stations on different lines. From some parts of the Marais it would be a short cab ride.

A cab will cost about 50 euros - And about as cheap as 4 train/metro tickets. There are also private car transfers at not much more.

Marais to Gare de Lyon not very far but suppose too far for the group to walk - if located near Les Halles you can get a direct RER train to Gare de Lyon. But again a cab much easier.

There is no need to wonder. Just go to the CDG official site, and they will tell you that the taxi is fixed at exactly 50EU to the Right Bank. It the the same going back to CDG when you get on a taxi at a taxi queue for an immediate departure. There is an additional fixed charge if you have to call a taxi for immediate departure and even more additional charge if you reserve a taxi to come to your place at a certain time in the future.

Taxi. Look at the signs above the exit doors in the terminal. You'll stand in a well-managed line if the airport is busy; they will ask how many and where you are going. Don't get into anything but an official taxi - if someone asks you inside the terminal if you need a ride or are going to Paris, ignore them. Have your address written down if you don't speak French.

The price is fixed. I always give a tip of 5 euros. But not necessary.

This one is easy.
CDG to apatment - taxi is best and most economical way to go. Go the the official taxi rank, do not fall victim to the gypsy cab touts who will try to snag you.
Apartment to GdLyon - taxi or uber. I'd go with uber.

A RER ticket from CDG to Gare du Nord is 10.30 euros. A Metro ticket from Gare du Nord to Breguet Sabin on line 5 is 1.5 euros. Do the math. Take a taxi.

The Cobblestone quote is a total rip-off. All you need to do is grab an official cab (follow the signs for TAXIS at the airport) for 50 euros - flat fee.

For the apartment to Gare de Lyon, I'd call G7 the night before and pay the measly fee for reserving in advance. Boot the kids out of bed early - the G7 will be there 5-10 minutes ahead of time.
