Trajan's Column open?

A quick question for anyone who has recently returned from Rome: has scaffolding been removed from Trajan's Column and is it open for viewing?

Thanks from an ancient Romaphile.

Not sure what you mean about the column being "open", but the bottom 1/3 of the column was under scaffolding. I just got back from Rome yesterday. Trajan's Market & Forum are open.

Thanks JR; you answered my question. I did want to know if the scaffolding had been removed and one could enter the immediate area to view the exterior. Too bad, it's been covered for years!

It's been covered since the first time I went to rome - at least 16 years ago. Weird!

TTT: IIRC it was un-scaffolded for the 2000 Jubilee Year. I could be wrong but I think this new scaffolding is ~ 1-2yrs old.
The Forum Tourist Info Office has tours of the Imperial Forums, they are not that great but it does get ya into all those Forums . That info office is across the street from the Via dei Fori Imperiali Forum entrance and ~100m down heading towards the Colosseum.
Regards, Walter
p.s. I'm still waiting for the Ara Pacis to open!!!

Hittin' 50 this year and memory is fadin' fast . A google image search showed it free of scaffolding in '99 & '00. But scaffolded again in '01.
I definitely saw it in '99 and possibly early '01 without scaffolding. Regards, Walter

Being a much younger 49, I remember the column being free of scaffolding in 2000! As a "rubble buff" I can frankly say that the interior of Trajan's Market is not worth the time!
