Has anyone taken this train. Would it be better to fly?? Is the scenery pretty, it looks like it goes down the coast. thank you in advance for any input. margit

We took the train from La Spezia to Naples.

I liked the scenery. It was nice seeing more of the countryside.

My sister and I had fun on the train. We brought food and wine and had no problem.

I'd be fascinated to hear how you intend flying. Unless you've got your own helicopter, the only serious alternatives to getting a train are driving or walking.

Are you actually travelling to La Spezia or to the Cinque Terre? If you are going to the Cinque Terre, look up train connections to the place you're staying: each of the five villages has a station, and you may find you change trains at somewhere other than La Spezia.
