Train Travel Italy/Austria/Germany

Hi My wife and I will be flying back to Venice from Naples in June 2006. Flying to Salzburg is expensive and awkward so can anybody assist me please. I would like to travel by train from Venice to Salzburg and a week later Salzburg to Frankfurt. Are there regular trains on these routes and can you tell me what the travelling time would be for each trip.
Thank you.

Hi rd,

Train schedules for all of Europe are at
http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/quer...n?L=profi&

You can buy your Venice/Salzburg tickets at www.trenitalia.com

You can buy Salzburg/Frankfurt tickets at www.bahn.de

You can fly from Milan or Rome to Salzburg for about 90 E pp ea way.

See www.whichbudget.com.

I personally feel that Rail Europe timetables are woefully inadequate.
A good, comprehensive site for western Europe that is also easy to use is the German site. http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/e...quest=yes&

There are at least 2 no change connections from Salzburg to Frankfurt.

Trips between Venice and Salzburg are slow because of the route. The websites are showing changes in Verona and Kufstein.

Train travel in Europe is reliable. If you lack experience with it, let me assure you that it is the opposite of Amtrak.

Hi,

I understand that you are looking for a cheap and comfortable way to travel from Naples to Salzburg. You could also fly from Naples to Munich and then go to Salzburg by train. HLX has a direct connection between Naples and Munich, and they are cheap. See

www.hlx.com
