Train tickets sold out? Help!

Hello Everyone -please help clarify and sooth my worries! We am looking for a 10:30am train out of Paris to Avignon for 6 family members in June. When I go to the internet sites you all recommend (idtgv and the other rail europe site),this train time is NOT offered as an option. Does this mean there are NO tickets available for the 10:30 train? or just no cheap tickets?? (I dont know the definition of a PREM, but assume these are the cheaper tickets)

Our travel plans will need to change if there are NO tickets. Can anyone clarify? (I thought we would be able to buy tickets when we got in Paris a week in advance.)Please help, DLynn

They only sell tickets 90 days in advance in France.

Thanks Kendarina for your quick reply! But then why were other train times other than the 10:30 am offered on the same day for June 21?

All trains don't run everyday. (weekend, weekday) Sometimes a certain line just doesn't have a 10:30 on Wednesday or whatever. Sometimes that day that train might be an express to the next city and just doesn't happen to stop in your city.

www.bahn.de should show all trains whether they're fully booked or whether reservations haven't opened yet.

Hi Kenderina - were there only two trains listed? Like a 7:54 a.m. and then one that leaves at 8 p.m.? If so, these are probably the IDTGV trains, which you can purchase 6 months out. The other TGV times won't be available until 3 months out.

Ooops I didn't realize the original poster was dlynn - sorry!! I just went on the Voyages-sncf.com website and it looks like there is indeed a train at 10:20 that day from Paris to Avignon, but when you click on "choose this outward journey" it takes you to a screen where you can only purchase one of those two idTGV trains. Wait for a month and try again!

Thank you all so much! I think I understand. The two TGV choices they gave were very early and very late in the day - so they must have been the IDTGV trains. So I think that we need to wait until the 3 month date March 21 - to reserve the 10:30am train.
So it looks like I was pretty anxious to think that the train was sold out already.
Please let me know if this is a correct interpretation. Thank you all for the peace of mind. DLynn
