train tickets in advance in Italy?
My fiance and I will be travelling by train in Italy in June. We have three train trips planned:
Florencto to Viareggio
Viareggio to Spoleto (near Cinque Terre)
Spoleto to Perugia
Should we purchase the tickets now or then? Do they sell out? Should we get a pass for just 3 trips or buy them individually?
What is the national train system called?
Thanks- SukiDuper

Hi,
We are leaving on May 12th for Italy and will also be taking the train a few times. The only trip that we purchased ahead of time was the trip from Milan to Venice. We are arriving in Milan, taking a whirlwind tour and then taking the train to Venice. We decided we would be jetlagged as well as just worn out from the tour and it would be a lot easier to have the tickets for that first leg. We will buy the other tickets as we need them.
Have a great trip.

Hi Suki - No need to buy tickets in advance for those routes.
For timetables see:
