Venice Santa Lucia, also known as Venezia SL is the station in Venice

Mestre is on the mainland.

Mestre, while on the mainland, is part of Venice, so both stations are in Venice. Which is more convenient would depend on where you're staying.

If you're staying in Venice, SL is better.

Wow, that citizenship offers some serious intelligence. Maybe we should ask newbies to name the six boroughs of the Venetian commune as a qualifier for booking train tickets.

I love the way some people define "helpful."

I've typed three replies and can't bring myself to post any of them.

Use the Venice Santa Lucia station if you are staying in Venice.
